High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

An adult has high blood pressure (hypertension) if his/her blood pressure (BP) is 140/90 or higher over a few weeks. The first number is systolic BP and the other is diastolic BP. Hypertension causes damage to the circulatory system. Hypertension can lead to heart and kidney disease.
